Pandemic, 2020
My contemporary rendition of “The Scream” by Edvard Munch. The whole world was in lock-down for the pandemic and it was such a frustrating time, at the same time worrisome.
One day, my intuition just guided me to paint this and I was just throwing paint on the canvas until a certain figure came out of it midway. Immediately I could recognize the elements in the art and I had been thinking a lot about what is going to happen to the world with regards to COVID19.
This piece captures the emotion and state that I was in. Part of me had fear and anxiety.
However, on the bright side, I was also happy that we were locked down in the house with my family and I got to spend lots of time with them. This flip side of the emotion is reflected in the somewhat happy colors of the piece.
